GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY MANAGER – ENVIRONMENT

If you want to have a positive impact on our society by contributing to building state-of-the art autonomous solutions in the transport and infrastructure industry, this is a unique opportunity to join our team at Volvo Autonomous Solution. Volvo Autonomous Solutions (V.A.S) is a new entity within the Volvo Group with the mission to offer transport solutions never seen before. We accelerate the development, commercialization, and sales of autonomous transport solutions, focusing on defined segments for the on- and off-road space.

V.A.S. is headquartered in Gothenburg and the organization employs some 320 highly skilled professionals and whereof a majority are working in the Swedish organization. The Autonomous Driving (AD) Development organization is divided into three different teams, each one headed by a Global Technology Manager (GTM): Environment Perception, Cloud and Motion Planning.

THE ROLE

The Environment domain consists of two departments, Perception and Localization. Today approx. 30 persons, but the group will grow to about 40 during next year. The development scope includes some of the most interesting and challenging building blocks of the automated driving system e.g. perception, localization, sensors, and computational nodes.

You will lead the work to define roadmap and objectives together with your management team, as well as partner with industry leaders on sensor selection and architecture.

As a member of the AD Development management team, you will provide clear summaries and recommendations to our executive leadership team. You will report to the Head of AD Development and the position is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

YOUR PROFILE

You have both hands-on and managerial experience within software development and preferably from areas related to perception or localization. Facing challenges that do not always have clear solutions or outcomes is part of the work and our leadership style is characterized by managerial courage.

Knowledge of sensors e.g., lidar, camera, radar, and high-performance computational nodes are beneficial. However, we believe your potential, personality, and mindset to gain these capabilities is more important than having them today.

Our working environment is highly international and hence you need to be proficient in English, both written and spoken.

We offer you a chance to be involved in defining the future solutions within the transport and infrastructure industry where we together are the motivators to make the future of automated transport solutions happen.
